Criteria for Selection

Our editorial team prioritizes work that bridges the gap between personal narrative and public discourse. We are particularly interested in pieces that are deeply reported, intellectually rigorous, and stylistically confident.

We look for writers who understand that the best journalism is the result of deep empathy and careful structuring. If you can make the complex feel human, we want to read it.

  • Depth over breadth

    We prefer comprehensive, deep dives over surface-level surveys. Show us the process, not just the result.

  • Originality of angle

    We are less interested in topics that have been over-explained and more interested in fresh perspectives on familiar subjects.

  • Narrative structure

    Compelling stories with clear arcs, satisfying resolutions, and a strong sense of momentum.

  • Distinct voice

    Authentic writing style that feels confident and engages the reader immediately.

What We Are Not Looking For

Exclusions

While we are open to many genres, there are certain types of content we will not publish under any circumstances.

Sponsored Content

We do not accept paid advertorials, press releases, or PR pieces disguised as journalism.

Clickbait

Headlines that mislead or promise more than the article delivers.

Unverified Claims

Factual errors, unsubstantiated statistics, or conspiracy theories.

How to Pitch

Format Guidelines

When submitting a pitch, clarity is key. We receive hundreds of queries per month, so we prioritize those that are concise, professional, and easy to read.

Subject Line: Pitch: [Article Title] — [Your Name]

Body: Start with a one-sentence hook, followed by a 150-word summary of the story. Explain why this piece matters now and who the target audience is.

Attachments: Please include 2-3 writing clips (links or PDFs) demonstrating your voice and research capabilities. No attachments larger than 5MB.

Expectations

Response Time

We review every pitch individually. You can expect a response within three weeks. If we are interested, we will send a formal contract within 48 hours of acceptance. If we decline, we will offer brief, constructive feedback.

Rights

All submissions are considered non-exclusive. Once we publish a piece, we retain the right to syndicate it to partner publications for a period of twelve months. You retain the right to republish the work elsewhere after that window.

Our Rates

We believe in paying writers fairly for their time and expertise. Rates are negotiable for established freelancers with significant bylines.
